Historic Poitiers is an hour away attracting many visitors for shopping and the famous Futuroscope, a science theme park, evening firework display and incredible laser show. There is a university here, lovely cafés and restaurants and daily indoor and outdoor markets. Poitiers is the departmental and regional capital of the Vienne and boasts France’s oldest Christian building, the Saint Jean baptistery, constructed back in the fourth century. The town has some fine examples of Romanesque architecture.

The Vienne was formed in 1790 from parts of the historical regions of Poitou, Touraine and Berry. The department is named after the river Vienne, which flows straight down the centre.

Ryan air flies direct to Poitiers and Limoges. Flybe flies direct to Limoges. The TGV connects Poitiers north to Paris/Lille and the Eurotunnel.

There is fabulous outriding on local chemins direct from the property. No need to cross any roads if you don’t want to. There is an excellent local farrier, 3 equine veterinary practices at Montmorillon, Le Blanc and St Gaultier, and a veterinary hospital at St Junien .
There is also a homoeopathic Equine specialist vet at Argenton-sur-Creuse. He also covers chiropractic and acupuncture treatments.
The local feed merchant is at Montmorillon. They are well stocked and willing to order in specific products if required. They also stock most equine requisites.
There is an equestrian centre at Lathus with an indoor and outdoor arena and a cross-country course, which is the equivalent of BE Novice level. They regularly run competitions from March until October for dressage, show jumping and 1 day eventing. The facilities can also be hired. There are also show jumping competitions at Le Dorat and St Junien.
There is a large equestrian centre in Poitiers, with a busy competing schedule throughout the year.
There are local riding clubs at Lignac and Ruffec, also running competitions.
Hay and straw in small or large bales is delivered from a local English farmer. He also makes haylage.
There is a network of visiting specialists such as Equine Osteopath, dentist, English saddler and equine massage therapist.

The Main House
