 The nearest village is Montmoreau St Cybard which is 2km from the house. The commune of Montmoreau-Saint-Cybard is in the south of the département de la Charente, and has 1187 residents. It has a supermarket, bank, pharmacie, 2 restaurants, 2 bars and a very good builder’s merchant.

The nearest large town is Angoulême, 26km. It was a fortified town for a long time and was highly coveted due to its position at the centre of many roads, important to communication so therefore suffered many sieges. From its tumultuous past the city, perched on a rocky spur, inherited a large historical, religious and urban heritage, which attracts a lot of tourists. You can find everything you would need here; shopping, leisure park and public lakes. For fans of vintage cars, the International Circuit des Remparts turns Angoulême into a giant museum on wheels for 3 days, where old-timers and classic cars thrill the crowds. The International Circuit des Remparts takes place in the third weekend of September and finds its route in the city unchanged since its first edition in 1939.

Near to Montmoreau is the beautiful village of Aubeterre sur Dronne, boasting an exceptional cultural heritage which, combined with its beautiful natural surroundings and the famous French “art de vivre”, makes it the perfect place to live and visit. Officially listed as one of “The Most Beautiful Villages in France” since 1993.

Near Aubeterre there is a golf course as well as lakes, walking and of course the vineyards where you can taste wine all around the area. Royan is the closest seaside town at about 1hour 30mins away.
